MSPO 2023 FEATURES THORIUM SPACE AT - THE PREMIERE AURORA SATELLITE TERMINAL
The Aurora satellite terminal is a device that provides broadband satellite communication in the Ka band; presented for the first time at the September defence expo in Kielce.
- THORIUM Space finds MSPO is one of the most important business events for the Company. This year our company expo stand - B-85 welcomes all visitors. We have the pleasure to present our portfolio to the experts, users and decision-makers visiting the expo. The solutions offered by THORIUM Space dedicated to the broadly defined industry, including satellite communication systems which are is of key importance. There is also our premiere - the satellite terminal - AURORA. This device is used to provide broadband satellite communication in the Ka band with two satellites operating in any orbit (LEO/MEO/GEO) at the same time. This year, we also hope that our innovative solution AURORA, will be noticed by the jury panel of the DEFENDER competition. For the first time in the Company’s history we have registered the product developed by our engineers and experts – informs Ewa Poławska, Head of Communication THORIUM Space SA
The premiere Aurora is designed to ensure broadband communication with satellites operating in the Ka band; the terminal construction is based on the technology of flat array antennas with an electronically controlled beam. This construction enables the use of both geostationary satellites and satellites in lower orbits (MEO, LEO). The possibility of digital formation of two independent, transmitting and receiving beams enables the terminal to establish two-way communication with two satellites simultaneously. The terminal is compatible with modems from various manufacturers, thus ensuring operation with various standards (the modem is integrated in the terminal casing). The Ethernet protocol is the communication standard, the built-in GNSS and IMU modules allow for the antenna to locate the desired satellite in autonomous mode. One can manually configure the antenna so that the radiation beam is targeted at a specific direction; the terminal can be laid flat on the ground or placed on a tripod for initial satellite orientation. The system can be powered directly from the AC mains through a dedicated power adapter, from vehicle voltage (24 VDC) or from an adapted battery pack. The set is also resistant to weather conditions.
