PER ARTEM AD DEUM for the 16th time!

This year's Sacroexpo saw the presentation of the Per Arte Ad Deum awards already for the 16th time. The winners list included the names of Paweł Łukaszewski, Jerzy Jan Skąpski and Leszek Sosnowski

The Medals of the Pontifical Council for Culture has become a glorious tradition of the SACROEXPO. Targi Kielce has been the only place in the world selected by the Pontifical Council for Culture where the award has been presented since 2005. The award has been presented to over 25 outstanding personages - representatives of scientific, cultural and artistic milieus.

The 2020 winners list included the names of Paweł Łukaszewski, Jerzy Jan Skąpski and Leszek Sosnowski.

The first of these laureates is one of the most outstanding representatives of the religious genre in contemporary music, a composer, conductor, educator. He has received many awards and distinctions for his work as a composer, including  2nd prize at the 2nd  Forum of Young Composers in Krakow (1994) and honour at the Tadeusz Bairda Competition for Young Composers (1992), 1st prize at the Competition of the Academy of Music in Warsaw (1995), 2nd prize at the 5th Adam Didur Composers' Competition in Sanok (1996), 2nd prize of the 27th  International Florilege Vocal de Tours Competition in France (1995).  Paweł Łukaszewski's works have been performed at over 100 festivals in Poland and abroad. Over 150 Polish and foreign CD long-plays include his compositions.  Over 60 of his works have been published by ChesterNovello, PWM, Walton Music, Edition Ferrimontana, Pana Musica Japan. He is the director of the Choir of the Warsaw-Prague Cathedral Musica Sacra and the Musica Sacra Edition Publishing House.

The chapter has also awarded Paweł Łukaszewski "for composing creativity and the quest for religious music essence".

Another winner passed away in May  - Jerzy Jan Skąpski was one of the most outstanding stained glass-makers in Poland, an eminent expert and admirer of religious art.  Scholarship holder of the Centro Di Studi e Rincontri Europei in Rome,  an artist, painter, graphic designer, author of posters and illustrations. He has been professionally affiliated with, inter alia Znak Publishing House and Tygodnik Powszechny Weekly. Jerzy Skąpski's works can be found in the National Museum in Krakow, the Museum in Lublin, the Éditions du Dialogue in Paris, Johnson's Collection in Chicago, the monastery of sisters of Order of Saint Clar in Kevelaer, the Church in Mangula (Zimbabwe), the Yad Vashem Institute in Jerusalem, the White House in Washington, and the Archdiocese Museum in Krakow. he has also designed of the coat of arms for Archbishop Karol Wojtyła.

The Per Artem ad Deum Medal for Polish literature development enhancement with the particular recognition for publication of a multi-volume series of books presenting St. John Paul II Pontificate history was bestowed to Leszek Sosnowski.

 

Sosnowski is a Polish author, set designer, journalist and photographer, the founder of the Biały Kruk publishing house. The president of DKF, involved in the organisation of the "Christian Culture Weeks" in Krakow, organiser of the "Film Meetings with God". Sosnowski has won 57 Polish and international awards and among them  European Leader 2005, Totus Award 2011, Pro Patria Medal 2017, Knight's Cross of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Poland 2018.  for many years it has promoted and propagated domestic and global arts and traditions. Leszek Sosnowski genuine album  - "Land of Benedict XVI"  was published in two language versions. The album was pronounced the Book of the Year in 2006.  The publishing house was appreciated by St.  and highly valued by Saint John Paul II who appointed the Biały Kruk the exclusive publishing of his "Renaissance Psalter" poems collection.  Leszek Sosnowski has been the editor of over 150 books devoted to Saint  John Paul II, including the 27-volume series "History of John Paul II Pontificate". Sosnowski also created 400 editorial concepts and graphic designs for books published by Biały Kruk.
