The Pontifical Council for Culture Medal was bestowed for the seventeenth time

The Medals of the Pontifical Council for Culture has become a glorious tradition of the SACROEXPO.

The Council was founded in 1982 upon the initiative of Pope John Paul II. The Holy Father establishing the Council emphasised that: "the dialogue of the Church with cultures of the contemporary world constitutes a significant area of activity, in which in the last years of the 20th century the future of the world has been shaped".

Targi Kielce has been the only place in the world selected by the Pontifical Council for Culture where the award has been presented since 2005. For 17 years, the award has been bestowed to over 29 outstanding personages from around the world, those whose activities are of great importance for the development of science, culture and art. The fellowship incudes  Ennio Morricone, Krzysztof Zanussi, Krzysztof Penderecki, Antonina Krzysztoń, Wojciech Kilar, Wincenty Kućma, Leszek Mądzik, Arvo Pärt, Paweł Łukaszewski, Leszek Sosnowski and Jerzy Skąpski.

The Per Artem Ad Deum 2021's Medal  for "For poetry that brings us closer to God and helps us confront His absolute."

Ernest Bryl was born in 1935 in Warsaw. A graduate from the Faculty of Polish Philology at the University of Warsaw. He studied film sciences at the Film School in Łódź. A member of the editorial board of socio-cultural magazines (incl. Współczesność). Since 2012, the Polish Film Institute staff member. A many-year film critic, the literary manager of the TV Theatre, previously the literary manager of several film teams. From 1974 to 1978 he was the director of the Polish Cultural Institute in London and in 1991-1995 the Polish ambassador to Ireland. A member of the Polish Writers' Association, the Polish and Irish PEN Club, and the SEC (Society of European Culture). Poetry, plays and prose author,  since 1965, also the author of the lyrics for songs performed by many famous artists, including: Skaldowie, Marek Grechuta, Krystyna Prońko, Maryla Rodowicz and Michał Bajor. Translates from Irish, Czech and Yiddish.

The laureate was is ailing and therefore unable to attend the expo and collect the Medal. The laureate was visited by President of Targi Kielce, Dr. Andrzej Mochoń. 

"I have received the Per Artem Ad Deum award. (...) A very important one because it is bestowed in Rome by the Pontifical Council for Culture. I am now among the few artists from Poland, those close to my heart, with I belong to this award fellowship (..) - emphasises Ernest Bryll - winner of this year's Per Artem Ad Deum award ".
