Aviation industry in the turbulent weather conditions zone

01 april 2020
The worldwide coronavirus pandemic has also contributed significantly to the aviation sector’s crisis. According to experts, the situation may be very dangerous for the whole industry

Because there has been hardly any demand for international air services for dozens of days. Almost all airlines have suspended flight connections  Airplanes are also being grounded. International airports are no longer able to accommodate planes. A significant employment reduction is also a problem - We have not anticipated this not a near-full closure.  The situation is worse than we thought it would be - said Brian Pearce, IATA's chief economist.

The "Flight Home" campaign continues.  Since its launch on 15 March, nearly 42,000 people have returned to their homes, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs informs.  The connections included flights from the Dominican Republic, Indonesia, Thailand, Morocco, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, the Philippines, South Africa and Tanzania and many European countries.

In order to limit the pandemic impact, the Sejm [lower chamber of the Polish parliament] adopted a rescue package - the so-called the anti-crisis shield. The shield includes jobs protection and the financial and health security measured for citizens and companies. In the coming months we will also see if this scheme may support the aviation industry.
